I had
organised and spent a week-end with some friends in Nivolet, a huge high
plateau of meadows that runs for approximately six kilometres at an
altitude of 2.500 metres, with the idea of taking photos of the
landscape. The area, which is set within the Gran Paradiso National
Park, is full of imposing peaks (some covered with ice all year round),
which are reflected in the many small glacier lakes. The path up to Taou
Blanc (3.438m), the destination of our hike, ran through wild,
unpolluted countryside rich in Alpine flora and fauna. We continued
along the path that looks out over Lake Rosset, the waters of which
reflected the imposing size of Punta Basei. Just below me I saw a kind
of jagged stone tower coloured by lichen, I went closer to take a look,
taking great care with the dangerous rock. At last I had found something
to give value to the evocative atmosphere around me. |
